The Animal Kingdom, arranged after it organization; forming a natural history of animals and an introduction to comparitive... Outer gutters cracked, spine cover dangling by threads to front cover. Water damage to back board. Impresed floral design and bright gilt lettering on spine and front. Pages are clean, supple. Binding is failing but all pages and plates are there. NOTE: Illustrated by 500 engravings on wood and 44 on steel; In addition to these improvements, the work is now illustrated by thirty plates of Animals, etched by Mr. Thomas Landseer, and four plates representing the different races of Mankind;
