General shelf wear, hinges cracked, tanned spine, worn extremities, fraying threads at spine edges, rubbed cover, lightly soiled, previous owner's name and city on inner board, light foxing throughout.The Life and Life-Work of Dr. David Livingstone, Missionary, Philanthropist, and Explorer, as Portrayed by the Personal Narratives and Last Journals: Continued by the Story of His Death in Inner Africa, the Return March of His Men, and His Burial in Westminster Abbey, Together With a History of the Stanley and English Relief Expeditions, and Some Account of Early and Contemporary Explorers As the work is intended for all intelligent classes of people, rather than as an addition to religious and Sunday-school litera ture, the compilers have been content to record (largely in his own words) what Dr. Livingstone saw, said, experienced, and achieved, during his thirty years sojourn in Africa leaving readers to draw their own morals, and their own estimates of his character. Space has thus been saved for hundreds of extremely interest ing incidents, which would have been crowded out had moralizing and eulogy been indulged.
