Woolnough, C.W.; The Whole Art of Marbling
LONDON, GEORGE BELL & SONS, 1881 , HARD BACK
Overall Condition is: POOR
Title page through page 48 are loose but present (not missing any pages). small bookplate on front endpaper, slight foxing inside, surface stain on cover which can only be seen in certain light glare. Beautifully marbled pages inside printed on a heavier card stock. Bright gold gilt lettering on spine and front cover, general wear, edges and corners are good. 82 pages of text (including index), 39 total color plates (some plates have part A & B so the number on the plates only go to #31) Very detailed examples of a true art form of covers and endpapers most people do not recognise when opening the book. THE LOOSE PAGES ARE IN GROUPS AS TO THE FOLDS OF LARGE PRINTED SHEETS WHEN BOOK WAS MADE. RATHER THAN BINDING THE TEXT AND PLATES TOGETHER WITH STRING BEFORE ADDING THE HARD COVER BOARDS THESE WERE GLUED TO THE COVER.
