Gift inscription on front, blank end page is dated 1881. pictorial paper covers on boards show general wear, with several spots worn to boards. General edge wear. Lettering on front and rear covers remains mostly in tact. Volume is tight and contents are generally clean. A couple of small closed tears on edge are noted, though not affecting illustrations. This drawing book has 8 colored illustrations and 30 line drawings to be colored by owners. of these 30, 10 have been neatly colored and 20 remain uncolored. Candace Wheeler (1827-1923), who was a needlework artist and an important member of the American Arts & Crafts movement. Wheeler worked briefly for Tiffany. She founded Associated Artists with Louis Comfort Tiffany, Samuel Coleman and Lockwood de Forest
